It’s game time for those who are serious about their TVs.
Seahawks fans are pulling out their wallets and flocking to stores in search of the perfect plasma television. So pick your favorite from among the alphabet soup of technologies: LCD, HDTV or a combo of both.
“This is always the way it is during this time of year,” said Zack Neathamer, entertainment sales manager at the Tacoma Circuit City. “But the Sea-hawks and the Super Bowl definitely gives the whole thing more energy.”
It’s not just the looky-loos hitting the stores, retail managers said. Customers who might have been pondering buying a television since Christmas are finally willing to lay down cash for a plasma, a liquid-crystal display or a high-definition set.
The interest in what were once high-end electronics has grown as prices have dropped below $2,000. The average price of a plasma TV dropped $552 to $2,400 in December, according to the National Retail Federation. Smaller LCD monitors sell for about $500 at many outlets.
