2006: Year of the LCD TV?
That’s according to Samsung as it continues to see strong demands for LCD TVs in 2006 both in the US and the global market. One reason could be the falling prices of LCD TVs.
Furthermore the demands for sets with large screens are increasing too. Thus in anticipating that, Samsung is increasing it’s LCD TVs production, paticularly the 40 to 46 inch LCD panels.
An extract of the news :
“It’s going to be a very strong year,” said David Steel, vice president of marketing for Samsung’s digital media business, in an interview. “The feedback that we’ve got during the show from the retailers, especially in the U.S., is that 2006 will be a really spectacular year.”

Well got to agree with Samsung judging from the number of LCD televisions being displayed at CES 2006 as reported by Soundandvisionmag.com. Here is an extract of the report:
“By now every TV manufacturer you can think of - and plenty that you’ve never heard of - are selling LCD TVs. You can’t turn around at CES without smacking your head into one.”
The above report is called “HDTV at CES 2006″ by Al Griffin. It’s a part of CES Special Report series and you can read more at Soundandvisionmag.com
Guess what, got to agree with Al’s observation and statement too
. This morning when I was scanning for news item to post I came across this “Comintel unveils high-tech LCD TV“. Have you heard of Comintel? I had not and reading the news it turns out that it’s a company based in Malaysia. The LCD TV made use of thin film technology from the US, it’s still under development and expected to be release to the market in early 2006. Guess that’s pretty soon.
