LCD TV Review By CRN, Choosing The Best
Five LCD TVs were put to the test and evaluated by Digital Connect Lab engineers. The five LCD TVs are
- Sony ViewSonic N4060w, a 40-inch LCD TV
- LG Electronics’ 42LP1D, a 42-inch LCD Integrated HDTV
- Philips Electronics’ 42PF9830A, a 42-inch LCD
- Westinghouse’s LVM-42W2, a 42-inch LCD TV
- SOYO Group’s Onyx Series DYLTO32D, a 32-inch HD-Ready LCD TV
Criteria for judging in the following order
1) Image quality
2) Sound System
3) Design
4) Price
5) Ease of set-up and use
Here are the takes of the models summarized.
SONY VIEWSONIC N4060W :- A 40 inch LCD TV, comes with 1,366×768 resolution, lots of connecting options and good sound system. Given a rather good reviewed as considering it cost less than $2000, this model managed to integrate screen size, features, good display and sound output and pleasing design into a single model.
LG ELECTRONICS 42LP1D :- Great aesthetic design and connection options. Thus when compared to the others and comes with a 1,366 x 768 resolution. What make this unit stands out is it’s design. However it is also the most expensive amoung the five costing $4,299.
PHILIPS ELECTRONICS 42PF9830A :- This is a 42 inch HDTV and comes with Philip’s famous Ambilight. This unique ligthing technology is suposely to enhance user viewing experience as such this unit offers one of the best HD output quality. Retail at $3,999. WESTINGHOUSE LVM-42W2 :- A 42 inch screen size, has many of the same features and comparable performance as the LG unit but costing much less. The unit retails at $2799. Amoung the five, this unit provides the highest/true HD resolution at 1,920 x 1080. One small complaint is the connectors to external speakers, these failed to work a few times during testing.
SOYO GROUP ONYX DYLT032D :- A 32 inch HD ready LCD TV with 1,366 x 768 resolution. Cost less than $1,400, the lowest amoung the five models. Has an all around display performance but a notch lower than that of the more expensive units. And one more thing to note is that unlike the others, this model can not be wall mounted.
That’s about it and after reading the evaluation I gathered that Sony Viewsonic N4060w is the best buy followed by Westinghouse’s LVM-42W2. Read more of Digital Connect Lab engineers evaluation at the resource below.
